Analysis of the chemical composition and physico-chemical characteristics of giant hail fallen in 2025 in Funes, Santa Fe, Argentina.

🇬🇧 #English – Analysis of the chemical composition and physico-chemical characteristics of giant hail fallen in 2025 in Funes, Santa Fe, Argentina.

Description:

This report examines giant hail samples collected after a severe storm in April 2025 in the city of Funes, province of Santa Fe, Argentina. The study was written by Marcela Sangorrín, Lorena Diblasi, and Juan José Cinalli, with sample management handled by Ramiro Salazar, Nahuel Montaña, Pablo Serrano, and Jesús Ciavatti, and analyses performed in the laboratories of Patagonia Instrumental, Greenlab, and JLA Argentina S.A. Through physico-chemical, microscopic, and spectrometric evaluations (ICP-MS and ICP-OES), the document details sample properties such as pH, boiling and freezing points, in addition to documenting the presence of microplastics (polyester fibers) and concentrations of inorganic elements, metals, and salts (highlighting sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and traces of silver), relating these findings to possible ice nucleation processes linked to geoengineering.
